Maine Handicapped Skiing
Maine Handicapped Skiing is a year-round adaptive recreation program for adults and children with physical disabilities located at Sunday River Ski Resort in Newry, Maine. For 12 weeks during the winter season, we teach downhill skiing and snowboarding at Sunday River Ski Resort and Sugarloaf/USA and cross country skiing and snowshoeing at Sunday River Inn and Cross Country Ski Center and Pineland Farms. During the summer we offer adaptive lessons in golf, canoeing, kayaking, and cycling. Our mission is to promote year-round education and training for individuals with physical disabilities in order to develop skills and provide enjoyment through active recreation. All lessons are free of charge. We serve mostly Maine, MA and NH, but have many participants from the U.S., Canada and the UK. Join Maine Handicapped Skiing at our 21st annual Ski-A-Thon, Saturday, March 18, 2006. This event is the largest one day fundraiser in Maine and raises 65% of our annual income.
