City Lights Youth Theatre
The mission of City Lights is to provide young people of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to participate in theatre experiences in order to develop confidence, teamwork, responsibility, and a greater sense of self and community.
Founded in 1991, City Lights is a not-for-profit, theatre arts education program offering after-school, in-school, and weekend drama and musical theatre classes to students ages 3-19. City Lights focuses on "the whole" child: The programs emphasize process rather than product, while at all times requiring dedication, commitment and effort from the students.
City Lights comprehensive mission driven approach to theater instruction entails two major components:
1. The Core Program of after-school and weekend theatre classes. This program includes a production and commissioning program which gives students the opportunity to develop and perform new and old works in Off-Off Broadway theatres. 2.The In-School Drama Immersion Program, which uses our dynamic brand of theatre arts education to help schools meet their curricular goals.
