Salon of Living Arts Media
The Salon of Living Arts Media (SLAM) was formed to organize cross-cultural residency programs and installation performances that combine visual artists, performing artists, and musicians from the United States and other, host countries. The residency program will feature intensive workshop sessions between artists, open studio sessions within the community, and conclude with performance installations that will be open to the public. The goal of SLAM’s programs are in furtherance of cultural and artistic understanding, and to create a better communication between disparate cultures and the United States.
The first such event will take place in Amman, Jordan, in association with the Royal Film Commission of Jordan. This premier event will be the culmination of a three-month residency established and operated in Amman by SLAM, where selected artists will collaborate to present a multi-media installation performance. As this is the first in a series of cross-cultural exchanges SLAM will organize in the coming years, the group plans to establish a long-term relationship between artists from the United States and Jordan, allowing them to perform, create, and exhibit both in Jordan and the United States.
