TheTeacher Residency Program is a full-time, year-long immersion program leading to a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and elementary teacher certification in first through sixth grade.
Gordon School is a racially diverse nursery through eighth grade coeducational independent school in East Providence, Rhode Island. A progressive independent elementary school, founded in 1910, Gordon is nationally recognized for our commitments to diversity and multicultural practice. Educators from across the country come to speak with administrators and observe faculty to gain a better understanding of best practice as it pertains to multicultural education, integration of technology, social curriculum, service learning, and curriculum development and planning.
The Residency Program at Gordon School and Roger Williams University brings to Rhode Island a singular opportunity for aspiring teachers to develop their knowledge, skills, and philosophy of pedagogy to teach through a year-long immersion experience at Gordon. Residents will experience this program as a seamless integration of coursework and practical experience. Our program is at its core, multicultural, collaborative and inquiry -based.
