The NGO has been founded in October 2000, by 6 Roma women’s who are founders members. The Association for Roma Women Emancipation it is juridical person, with private, nonpolitical and nonprofit character. THE AIMS OF AFER: to militate and to defend Roma women and children rights, in the community and family and also in the society. AFER it is: - founder member in Coalition for the Healthy Community - Member of Roma National Network – R.N.R
PROJECTS 1. « Promotion of multiethnic dialogue » - Ethnocultural Resource Diversity Center – December 2001, intercultural evening. 2. « Roma Women choose health « - E.U., Phare Founds for Roma, September 2001 – March 2002, training for Roma promoters in family planing, the amount for this project was 16.000 EUR. 3. “ Information and participation between the Roma women NGO” – The Resource Center for Roma Communities, November 2001 – November 2002, exchange experience with the others Roma NGO via Internet, 3.000 USD. 4. “ Information in yours community” The Resource Center for Roma Communities, February – August 2002, providing juridical and psycho – social counseling for Roma communities from Cluj Napoca city. 3.000 USD. 5. “ Financial independence – the first aspect for emancipation” The Resource Center for Roma Communities, February – August 2002, the main objectives of this projects was qualification of 11 Roma women in tailoring. As a result of collaboration between AFER and the County Agency For Training and Labor (CATL) was employed a number of 5 Roma women. 9.500 USD. 6. The principal partner in the project “ The Access of Roma Women to the Prevention Programs – Cervical Cancer”, project unfolded by The Romanian Society Against Cancer – S.R.C, financed by E.U., Phare Found for the Improvement of Roma Situation, November 2002 – August 2003. Our role in this project was to mediate the contact between S.R.C., Oncological Institute and the Roma women from the communities. 7. Partner – local project coordinator “ Facilitating the Access of Roma on the Labor Market” project unfolded by Community Development Agency “ Together”, financed by E.U., Phare Found for the Improvement of Roma Situation, November 2002 – August 2003. 8.
