About Us

Since 1982, Earth Island Institute’s International Marine Mammal Project (IMMP) has been a global leader protecting whales and dolphins and their ocean habitats. IMMP established Dolphin Safe tuna fishing practices and a monitoring program that saves approximately 100,000 dolphins yearly. We rescued and released Keiko, star of Free Willy, and are working to create seaside sanctuaries where captive performing whales and dolphins can retire. We’re challenging dolphin slaughters in Japan, commercial whaling, and the international trade of cetaceans for entertainment. Join us in keeping whales and dolphins wild and free! www.savedolphins.eii.og
