Mission Statement

SowCoders mission is to encourage girls (middle to high school) in developing nations to consider a career in science, technology and Engineering (STEM) by exposing them to fun, challenging and creative coding projects.

Description

During academic summer breaks, SOWCoders will travel to developing countries in order to conduct a 2-weeks technical program with the help of local grassroots, community and academic organizations. . The curriculum will include your traditional STEM focus, with a concluding segment on informal information session with professional and successful women from the technology field in each corresponding country. These sessions will include: inspirational talks, fun group activities and mentoring opportunities. Our target countries will be chosen based on their economic and technological standing, ratio of women involved in careers in technology and potential for benefiting from our program.
