The VOLUNTEER SERVICES COUNCIL is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit tax-exempt organization. The Council enters into a Memorandum of Understanding with the San Antonio State School (SASS) each year, including adherence to Texas DADS policies and procedures. Through the efforts of the Volunteer Services Council, foundations and individuals have made lasting contributions to the facility and to the individuals it serves. The mission of the SASS Volunteer Services Council is to support the residents, staff and volunteers of the San Antonio State School through funds, resources, public education and volunteerism. The VSC is to function as a public relations and marketing body for the facility by informing the community of the consumers' and facility's needs; eliciting their contribution and participation to fulfill them; and, promoting community awareness of current and clear accomplishments and responsibilities of the facility.
