Ndibwami Integrated Rescue Project
We are NIRP, the abbreviation of Ndibwami Integrated Rescue Project.
A development organisation providing support and care to people Living with HIV and AIDS, as well as their families and the communities they live in.
By setting up local and small-scale projects in rural communities of Uganda we seek to contribute to a process of Preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of those affected by HIV and AIDS.
Our vision is… An empowered society with the ability to respond to HIV/AIDS and its impacts.
Our mission is… To contribute to a process of Preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons families and communities affected by HIV infection and AIDS.
Our goal is… To improve the quality of life of people living with HIV and strengthen their engagement in the response to the epidemic.
How do we think this change can be realized? We believe that communities affected with HIV know best what services they need and what changes are required to transform their lives and those of their families. We believe that stigma and discrimination are among the greatest barriers to change, and that there are wider factors in society influencing the spread of HIV, such as unequal gender relations.
NIRP believes that the quality of life of people living with HIV can be improved by:
- Providing and enabling access to comprehensive services for people with HIV and their families
- Building the capacity of people living with HIV to respond to the epidemic
- Advocating for and supporting policy work which leads to improvements of the lives of people with HIV and their families
NIRP's core programmes include HIV/AIDS counseling and training - Orphans and family support - Street and working children & young people’s programmes - Home based care - Micro credits- Income generating activities-women self help groups - Grandmothers care and support -Vocational skills transfer.
