About Us

Neighbors Together is a dynamic soup kitchen and community center committed to ending hunger and poverty in the Ocean Hill, Brownsville and Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhoods of Brooklyn, three of the lowest-income areas in New York City.

Our mission is deeply grounded in our belief in the dignity and potential of each person. Since 1982 we have been fighting hunger on three levels:

· Our Community Cafe, a daily soup kitchen and gathering place, addresses the immediate crisis of hunger by providing warm, nutritious meals to 400 people a day;

· Our Empowerment Program case management services address the struggles which go hand-in-hand with hunger: unemployment, lack of education, homelessness, addiction, inadequate health care;

· Our Community Action Program engages our members in community organizing and advocacy to improve public policies that impact hunger and poverty.

True to our name, we collaborate with many partners in a crucial endeavor: to ensure that all members of our community have the resources to feed themselves and their families. In a city and country as prosperous as ours, there is no reason this goal cannot be achieved.
