The mission of the Biloxi Relief, Recovery, and Revitalization Center is to support the individuals, families, small businesses, and neighborhoods of Biloxi, Mississippi as they rebuild their community in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The center’s efforts will be directed primarily towards, but not limited to, the neighborhoods of East Biloxi that are currently experiencing the greatest need. The Center will marshal resources with the goal of ensuring the residents of Wards 1 and 2 are included as active participants in the rebuilding of their neighborhoods. Working in concert with community, faith-based and civic organizations, government officials and private entities, the Center will work to ensure that the citizens it serves—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or immigration status—achieve self-sufficiency and success in the economic mainstream of society. The Center will carry out its mission by linking clients with direct services, coordinating planning for redevelopment efforts, providing architectural design and technical expertise, and by facilitating private sector and community investment.
