Description

Herb Nepal is an organic herb farm and training centre that works with small-scale farmers to cultivate organic and sustainably-grown herbal crops. These herbs are then used to create natural herbal body, skin and hair products with revenues reinvested to ensure continued impact for farmers.

Our organisation transforms the lives of farmers by:

  • Higher incomes for farmers

  • Healthier food sources and less harmful chemicals

In order to strengthen and maximise the impact of the farmer training programme we are looking for a skilled writer, editor and /or proposal writer that might be interested in supporting HN with proposal and grant writing (including budgets), researching and networking with other organisations.

The candidate will work in the Lalitpur office, will receive a basic allowance and lunch daily. If the candidate writes a successful proposal it will be possible provide additional payment (determined by the grant size).

The role will include the following areas of work:

  • Proposal and grant writing
  • Researching available opportunities
  • Provide a costing and budget for applications
  • Draft, edit and take overall responsibility for the proposal writing process
  • Receive inputs from Senior Managers

This position will suit a person seeking work within the development sector or social enterprise and is hoping to gain valuable experience.

Benefits

A basic allowance will be provided to cover transport costs to/from the office. However, if the candidate writes a successful application an additional payment can be made. At the end of the placement, the incumbent will be offered a complimentary overnight stay at our Farm Stays (normally costing 100USD).

Day-to-day accommodation will not provided so it is expected that the successful candidates will organise their own housing in Kathmandu. Unfortunately, this is due to the lack of Wifi at the farm.

Placement length depends on the individual circumstances although a minimum of 4 -6 weeks is advised. This placement will also suit individuals that are only able to commit on a part-time and/or casual basis.
