Domino Volunteers is looking for creative and enthusiastic individuals, passionate about cultural exchange and supporting grassroots organizations in Cartagena, Colombia. Currently, we have an opening for a Marketing & Communications Intern, in order to support and broaden our current outreach efforts.

About us:

Domino Volunteers is a Cartagena-local social enterprise that believes in the power for positive change when people put their skills, time and resources to use for impact. Our team is dedicated to facilitating and and supporting the connection and collaboration between volunteers, donors and foundations in Cartagena, Colombia.

We are 100% locally based in Cartagena, Colombia and have personal relationships with foundations that greatly benefit a community and tell us their needs. If these needs can be fulfilled by an interested volunteer, we create a volunteer position, organize pre-arrival details, orient the volunteer to the project, and support the foundation and volunteer throughout. We work with individual volunteers, travel groups, NGOs, researchers and study abroad programs as well.

About the internship:

We are currently looking for an intern that will support our marketing and communications team.

We are a small but growing team, and believe that we have developed an important and effective volunteering model. Since our founding in 2014, Domino Volunteers has connected over 400 volunteers, collected over 21 tons of trash and recycling, directed US $60,000 in direct donations to foundations, and facilitated over 800 kilos in materials donated to local foundations. Beyond connecting individuals and groups to volunteer, donation, study abroad and research opportunities with local foundations, we also run our own community development projects as well. By expanding our communications, marketing and outreach efforts, our team will be able to connect even more resources to local organizations, facilitating connections and collaborations to create real, sustainable local impact.

This is the perfect position for someone looking to expand their international experience, gain real and impactful marketing and communications experience, and work with a wide range of local grassroots organizations. The intern would work with our small team, and meet regularly to discuss marketing and communication strategies and campaigns, as well as accompany volunteers and groups to local foundations. This is a flexible position, and we are open to shaping the specific responsibilities and tasks based on the skills, interests and goals of the intern.

Possible tasks & responsibilities:

  • Contribute to our Domino Volunteers Blog, or assist us in seeking out additional blog contributors
  • Take photographs and videos of volunteer sites
  • Collect volunteer testimonies
  • Assist with volunteer placement and connection with local foundations
  • Manage and publish on our social media accounts
  • Maintain and improve our website display and content
  • Explore and propose new ways in which we can broaden our impact and reach
