Employment type: Full-Time

Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Brooklyn, New York, USA

Reports to: Talent, Culture, and Community Manager

We are seeking a purpose driven and resourceful Recruiting Coordinator to support People Operations efforts from our headquarters in Brooklyn, NY, USA.

Shared_Studios exists to create meaningful human connections between people separated by distance and difference. We bring communities together in immersive spaces called Portals to talk, dance, play, and collaborate as if in the same room. More than 75,000 people in 28 countries have entered Portals to engage with people they wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to meet.

In this role, you will work closely with and report to the Talent, Culture, and Community Manager to run effective recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding processes. You’ll draft job descriptions, post open roles online, build interview schedules, and ensure positive candidate experiences from start to finish. As you gain proficiency, the role may expand to include interviewing, sourcing, and additional HR-related project management.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in talent and learn high-impact recruiting top-to-bottom.

Responsibilities. You will:

  • Support all steps in the recruiting process to help us select and hire passionate, mission-aligned, and high-performing people - you will write and post job descriptions, review resumes, coordinate with hiring managers and candidates, and schedule interviews;
  • Build positive relationships with hiring managers and candidates, keeping everyone on track, and moving the recruiting process forward as quickly as possible;
  • Learn to use systems and tools to make our work more efficient and effective. You will work with Google Hire, JustWorks, BambooHR, and other key systems of the trade;
  • Support onboarding efforts to ensure new team members feel welcomed and empowered; process new hires and collect any paperwork, verify employment eligibility via I-9, send welcome emails, track new hire trainings, and schedule new hire orientation sessions;
  • Represent Shared_Studios at job fairs and careers events;
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as necessary to support people operations efforts and carry out day-to-day HR-related responsibilities.

Ideal attributes and experience.

You are:

  • A strong and proactive communicator. You connect dots quickly and follow up when needed;
  • Organized, thorough, and generally on top of things;
  • Able to work autonomously and manage multiple recruiting processes and timelines simultaneously;
  • A problem-solver who can see the root cause of challenges and imagine possible solutions and new ways of working;
  • Globally-minded, appreciative of diversity in all its forms;
  • Passionate about our mission of forging meaningful human connections between people and communities everywhere.

You have:

  • At least one year of HR or related office management or administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience;
  • Emotional intelligence and sensitivity to the confidential nature of Human Resources information;
  • Strong computer skills and a willingness to embrace technology (we regularly use Google Drive, Asana, and Slack)

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience
  • You have experience utilizing an applicant tracking system and/or HRIS/payroll systems
  • Cross-cultural experience and/or foreign language skills highly desirable.
