About the Center for Empowered Politics (CEP) and CEP Education Fund

The Center for Empowered Politics and the sister organization the Center for Empowered Politics Education Fund​ is a practitioner-led movement capacity organization that trains and develops new leaders of color to grow their power building and co-governing infrastructure. In addition, CEPEF provides capacity building support (i.e. executive coaching, peer coaching, organizational development, fund development) for fiscally-sponsored projects.


Position Overview: 

Work closely with the Center for Empowered Politics (CEP) / CEP Education Fund Leadership Team to develop strategy, benchmarks, and support for programs and incubation work. The position is responsible for oversight, management, and organizational development of CEP/CEPEF programs and incubation work. 


Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide oversight and support to service to organizing integration projects. This includes but is not limited to: 
  • Cultivate and develop connections to other neighborhood and city-wide efforts to support low-wage workers and community members 
  • Support ongoing organizing work to advance economic justice and community rights within a service to organizing model  
  • Documenting and testing best practices for integration of organizing and direct service work
  • Oversight and support to CEP/CEPEF incubation work. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Movement interventions to build power to advance racial justice and counter the right.
  • Activities include: Coaching, trainings, and staff development, Organizational development support, Strategy and program development
  • Participate in CEP/CEPEF staff and organization building 
  • Participate in staff spaces for strategy development, decision-making, and alignment across projects
  • Support and participate in programs, and organization-wide activities as needed


Key Qualifications

As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of CEP, CEPEF and Resilient Strategies and be driven by the mission. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change. Beyond that, we are seeking a candidate that has proven experience in:.

  • 5-7 years in a lead level staff position within a movement building organization (grassroots, labor, or community organizing)
  • Analysis of power and the role of basebuilding leadership development, campaigns, and civic engagement work in creating social change
  • Experience with coaching, team building, management and supervision
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future opportunities and threats within the political landscape
  • Excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving and detail oriented
  • Advanced skills in facilitation of small and large group meetings
  • Strong computer skills with expertise in G-Suite and Microsoft Office


Employment Terms: This position is being offered as a full-time exempt position. Preference for San Francisco Bay Area, open to remote placement for folks who can travel to the bay area regularly (6-10 times per year).  


Salary and Benefits: 65-75K with competitive benefits
