Description

Title: Regional Solar Business Development Manager, reporting directly to BSR’s Business Unit Leader

Location – Location of the Sales person is New Jersey, initially targeted in the Atlantic City area.

Responsibilities – This full-time position requires a dynamic, outgoing person to market and sell the economic and environmental benefits of solar, energy efficiency and utility audit programs to both secular and faith based non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The position is the primary customer contact point for the Company and its prospective customer base located in the Northeast U.S., including northern portions of the mid-Atlantic region. The Regional Sales manager is responsible for developing customer leads, introducing both the Company and the benefits of solar to prospective customers, assisting customers through their approval processes, closing transactions, and otherwise acting as a liaison during the early stages of System design and implementation. The Northeast and portions of the Mid-Atlantic represent an expansion of the Company’s initial test market and will benefit from the Company’s growing experience with selling solar to NGOs, and growing relationships through affiliated customer networks.

Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Generating new customer leads, as well as pursuing leads from geographic affiliates of existing customers and other Company-generated leads, to create a solid pipeline of realizable opportunities;
  • Managing and reporting on Customer meetings, proposals and other support activities;
  • Traveling within the territory to meet with prospective customers and review preliminary siting options;
  • Acting as a primary contact person for customers, accountable for customer proposals, follow-up meetings, execution of definitive documentation and satisfaction of customer expectations;
  • Working with internal teams to provide effective guidance for engineering, utility audit, energy efficiency, construction and other operational units of the business, and support a favorable customer experience;
  • Assisting the Company to continue developing its understanding of, and selling to, the unique requirements of the NGO market.

Compensation – The Company offers a base salary commensurate with experience, and a commission on all closed and funded transactions. A successful business development manager could earn more than $100,000 in compensation during the first full year of employment, despite time invested in sales training, new lead development and otherwise developing a pipeline.

Essential Skills & Experience – The Company is looking for individuals who have some or all of the following skills and experience:

-         Three to four years in sales or direct sales-support;

-         Three to four years’ experience with solar sales or other renewable energy, including Net Metering and/or Community Solar.

-         Superior communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone and presentation;

-         Strong client management skills and an ability to coordinate effectively with timely follow-ups;

-         A positive attitude and target-focused approach to research and analyzing new business opportunities;

-         Strong self-starter with a track-record of achieving goals;

-         B.A. or B.S., preferably in business, engineering or a related field, preferred.

The Company – Bluesource Renewables L3C (BSR) is a social benefit company designed to help non-governmental organizations (NGOs), whether secular or faith-based, to redirect utility and other energy expenses into mission-related program impact.

Nested under the Bluesource family, BSR leverages decades of Bluesource’s experience and innovation by extending that legacy of social and environmental responsibility into new markets benefitting new customers. BSR guides NGOs, through the complex world of energy management. NGOs, mission-driven organizations, spend billions of dollars each year on non-mission-related expenses, including utility bills. For organizations with constrained budgets dependent on fund raising, charitable donations and grant support, simply keeping the lights on can pose an unwelcome financial drag on mission-related activities. BSR offers solutions that result in bottom-line savings for its customers that translate directly into increased mission-directed funding.

As a social benefit company, BSR is organized to serve mission-driven NGOs. It is also structured as a low-profit limited liability company that enables it to balance the profit motive against socially responsible investing. In addition, BSR devotes a substantial portion of its annual profits to support its own mission-related work.
