Social Investment Managers and Advisors (SIMA) LLC is focused on bottom of the pyramid investment opportunities with commercial returns and clear social benefits. SIMA has three lines of business: SIMA Funds, an asset management company; SIMA Advisory, advisory services to facilitate social investments for our clients include high net worth individuals, foundations, DFIs and corporates; SIMA Social Business, a unique effort by the fund manager to create social businesses (we are currently working on a FinTech affordable mortgage company). We have chosen to work in the poorest countries in world include sub-Saharan African and South and Southeast Asia.  We are currently working in the sectors of off-grid solar, microfinance, affordable housing, and education. Over time, we also have ambitions to work in other sectors serving low-income customers such as healthcare, sanitation and agriculture.

The Position


SIMA is looking for a full-time Head of Fundraising to join their team in an exciting time of organizational growth and development. We have grown 10-fold in the last 4 years and will continue to seek further growth.  


The Head of Fundraising will work with the CEO and associates to provide the necessary vision, leadership, and fundraising skills which will enable SIMA to achieve its fundraising targets for its various funds and initiatives across a variety of impact sectors. You will also collaborate on SIMA’s marketing efforts.


You will have substantial fundraising experience, a talent for building relationships, and a proven track record in securing funds from institutional investors, development finance institutions, foundations, trusts and major donors. 


SIMA is fortunate to work with some of the world’s most innovative global funding partners, including AXA, MetLife, Church Pension Group, FMO, DFC, USAID, Shell Foundation, and Heifer Foundation to name a few. You will be asked to collaborate across our investment, marketing, and fundraising teams to support our dynamic portfolio of new and existing projects.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Build a pipeline of fundraising opportunities, from institutions, corporations, foundations, governments, and individuals across the globe. Directly contribute to each projects annual fundraising goals.

·      Prospecting and research: Work with team members to, identify new funders, unlock new network-building opportunities, and maintain existing relationships.

  • Proposal and report writing: Work with team to design compelling grant and funding proposals and reports. We are looking for a candidate with strong writing skills, and the proven ability to communicate complicated ideas in a clear, simple, and inspiring way.
  • Investor meetings and presentations.


Qualifications

We are looking for someone with 5+ years of relevant background in fundraising. You should be able to demonstrate a track record of fundraising success.


Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • 7-8 years professional experience with at least 5 years in fundraising 
  • Detailed fundraising track record (by capital type and amount)
  • Experience with DFIs
  • Experience prospecting and researching for new investors.
  • Strong writing skills, relationship management, attention to detail, and organized
  • Likely hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in economics, communications, business, or international development.
  • Speak the language of business and impact investment. 
  • Experience managing a CRM system.
  • May have experience fundraising in the non-profit world
  • Language: Fluent English.

Job Location

Remote– must be flexible to overlap partial business hours with the US, Europe, and Africa/Asia
