The digital revolution is transforming how more than 4.5 billion people access sexual and reproductive health care and information. The increasing use of technology provides a unique opportunity to reach vulnerable populations that are excluded from traditional healthcare systems or burdened by geographic barriers, high costs, and stigma. Women and young people increasingly turn to the internet as the first touch-point for information, including guidance about reproductive health and abortion information.

Women First Digital (WFD) is an eHealth social enterprise that operates HowToUseAbortionPill.org (HowToUse). At WFD, we believe in leveraging the power of the digital revolution to ensure that all women, regardless of where they live, have access to a safe abortion option.

Some of HowToUse’s defining resources include:

• Simple, de-medicalized information about medical abortion- including how to safely use abortion medications, what to anticipate during the abortion process, and where to acquire quality abortion pills- in 27 languages;
• Ally, our safe abortion chatbot, developed to help users quickly address questions and concerns about medical abortion in English, French and Hindi;
•  Online safe abortion training courses for healthcare workers, including courses for medical students, pharmacists and humanitarian aid workers (created in partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières);
• Summaries of local abortion landscapes- including common abortion pill brands, costs, support organizations, and legislation- in 49 countries;
• And a robust social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and WhatsApp.

HowToUse is hiring for a full-time Program Manager.

Position Description:

The Program Manager will ensure the continued growth and development of HowToUseAbortionPill.org. The scope of work is inclusive of, but not limited to:

• Map short- and long-term programmatic goals that increase site visibility and global usership;
• Develop and execute comprehensive workplans to meet programmatic goals, with an eye towards innovative digital strategy;
• Oversee a multi-donor annual budget tied to specific regions, timelines and deliverables; 
•  Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and target demographics that align with programmatic goals;
• Track KPI performance, audience demographics and user behavior through tools such as Google Analytics for monthly reporting and strategy building; 
• Oversee the production of online and offline content, including clinically-aligned safe abortion information, online training courses for healthcare workers, country profiles, blogs, and social media content;
• Cultivate a robust network of global partners and position HowToUse as a creative, collaborative force in the sexual and reproductive health field; 
• Directly manage a team of four full- and part-time staff members; coordinate on-the-ground activity through a team of in-country consultants.

Position Requirements:

• Strong background in sexual and reproductive health or global health, with a focus on abortion care;
• Two years of experience in project management;
• Strong digital literacy; must be comfortable working with digital tools, with particular mastery of Google suite and Excel; familiarity with SEO, UI/UX, and customer-facing digital tools preferred;
• Familiarity with marketing strategy, with an emphasis on digital marketing;
• Strong skillsets in both writing and data analysis;
• Experience working as part of a multicultural, international team;
• Fluency in both rights-based and harm-reduction abortion advocacy, including abortion-positive messaging;
• Highly organized and self-disciplined;
• Reliable, strong connection to internet required;
• Experience with Google Analytics preferred;
• Full professional proficiency with English required; additional language proficiency preferred.
