Salaried position, not hourly

Mt. Airy Nexus Coworking (MANC) serves a community which values both locally focused growth and diversity (racial, age, religious, and more), as well as environmental impact. It encompasses a cross section of the sustainability, entrepreneurship, technology, social justice, arts and non-profit communities in Philadelphia.

Mt. Airy Nexus is currently looking for two part-time values-aligned Community Developers* (commonly referred to as Community Managers, but we take a somewhat different attitude to the role - more on that below) to run both the social and physical aspects of the community, specifically focusing on community building, marketing, and the financial operations of the coworking business. We have come to believe that it is likely better to have a small team to take all of this on, but are open to the possibility that this role might be filled by one full-time Community Developer, so individuals seeking a full-time role are welcome to apply also.

The Community Developers will be responsible for cultivating a culture within the coworking space of creativity, collaboration, and sensitive but courageous confrontation of our society's challenges. This is accomplished by facilitating a physical space and embedded programs that reflect members’ values and needs, activated by art, networking events, group discussions, community meetings, other activities, and social events.

*Development comes from a source word that means to de-veil, or unveil potential

Position Overview:

The Community Developers at Mt. Airy Nexus will be in a self-driven position involving weekly coordination with the rest of the Nexus team which includes three others, and more frequent coordination with the Nexus founder.

Community Developer (financial focused) oversees day-to-day financial and accounting operations of coworking space including maintaining income and expense sheets, managing an overall budget, generating contracts and leases for booking events and renting offices, generating invoices, ordering supplies. At least basic proficiency with graphic design and marketing software is a must.

BOTH Community Developers will be responsible for:
