WHO WE ARE


Global Public Service Academy (GPSA) for Health is an educational organization that works in underserved rural communities of Guatemala, Belize, and West Virginia, USA in collaboration with local health authorities. GPSA was founded with an understanding that young adults can make a difference in the world. GPSA has two main goals: to collaborate with local health professionals to determine the health resources and needs of each area; and to provide young adults with a hands-on experience that addresses those needs. To achieve those goals, GPSA offers two types of programs: 1) short-term (1-4 weeks) volunteering programs for high school students and 2) long-term (9-18 months) fellowship programs for university graduates. All of our programs are designed in collaboration with Duke University and Johns Hopkins University.


THE POSITION


We are looking for an energetic and dedicated individual to coordinate admissions and some recruiting activities. The main responsibilities of Admissions Coordinator are in relation to the admission and registration process of GPSA participants. These responsibilities include managing the application system, coordinating application reviews and progression, and maintaining communication with applicants and partner schools.

In your role as Recruiting Coordinator you will be part of the recruiting team and contribute to the expansion of GPSA’s worldwide client network.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


As Admissions Coordinator you would have multiple responsibilities including:

  • Maintains communication with students before their arrival, requests completed application and registration documents, explains admissions criteria, records and tracks payments and other information in a database,
  • Screens applicants according to criteria set forth by the organization, and accepts or rejects applicants appropriately,
  • Maintains communication with partner schools to insure that the paperwork process is understood, verifying and clarifying information, and coordinates the collection of paperwork from students and chaperones, making sure that deadlines are met,
  • Manages admissions meetings, including schedule completed folders for consideration and referring appropriate folders for financial aid,
  • Shares required information with other GPSA staff in a timely manner,
  • Updates admissions materials as needed each year.


The main responsibilities as Recruiting Coordinator focus on:

  • Identifying and processing leads on designated client areas.
  • Maintaining the contact database.
  • Following up with students that attended recruiting presentations.
  • Coordinating a structural and continuous use of social media.
  • Conversion of lead to prospect


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree


Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in English; 
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision, in a home-based setting;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills to effectively communicate/exchange information,
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools, Conference calling, e-mail (all in English)
  • Basic design skills, like working with Word Documents and PDF’s



Desirable Skills

  • Demonstrated interest in education, tourism, and health.
  • Ability to speak Spanish;
  • Experience working internationally


CONDITIONS:

  • Salary: from US$7000 - US$9000 annually, depending on the experience and qualifications of the applicant.
