About us


Across the developing world, more children than ever are in school – but they are not learning. We want to change that. Rising Academies is a growing network of inspiring schools in West Africa. Our students develop excellent literacy, numeracy and spoken English as the foundation for success in further study, work and day-to-day life. Independent evaluations have found that Rising students make 2 to 3 times as much progress in reading and maths in one year as their peers in other schools.


Excellent curriculum content is at the heart of our approach. We provide our schools with detailed lesson plans and associated learning materials that have been specifically developed for the country context, the needs of our staff, and the ability levels of our students.


Curriculum Writers (multiple roles)


We are looking for freelance Curriculum Writers, working remotely to develop lesson plans, workbooks and assessments for early childhood.



Start dates, time commitment and place of work


We are looking for people to start as soon as possible.


Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive induction, including guidance, templates, examples and feedback on their initial work, and will be able to work remotely from wherever they wish.


We are open to both full- and part-time work, although given the initial investment required to get them up to speed, candidates will need to be able to commit to developing at least one term’s worth of materials.




 



Benefits

Compensation will be based on a set fee for each lesson plan, workbook or assessment. As a small start-up organisation in West Africa, the fees we can pay are proportional to the size of our budget, not the size of our impact on the lives of the young people we serve. But for candidates interested in using their skills to help some of the most educationally disadvantaged students in the world, this is an excellent opportunity.
