Glen’s Garden Market is a grocery, deli and craft beer bar located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC. Glen's exists to make climate change progress – one bite at a time – by serving Good Food from Close By, and growing relationships with partners, who treat their land, their animals and their ingredients with respect. At Glen’s Garden Market, every single decision we make is made with the environment in mind, from our sourcing criteria to the packaging and equipment we use to our waste management protocols. In just under five years, we have launched 80 local, small food businesses that share our commitment to sustainability. Of those, 45 are owned by women and 58 produce within the District of Columbia.
Glen's is a climate progress motivated, all-local grocery, deli and craft beer bar. We offer amazing, small-batch food, delicious craft beer and terrific salads and sandwiches. In addition to making incremental climate change progress, we intend to provide the very best service in our industry.
Our Director of Service will be the steward of that goal: leading by example, creating a positive and inspiring work environment and empowering our team to provide best-in-the-business service every single day. Responsibilities will include: serving as an inspiring and activating coach and mentor, leading service, running and managing our hiring process, writing and managing schedules, ordering relevant supplies and innovating ways to continuously build and sustain high morale.
The position requires an authentic commitment to our Mission and Values, and a deep passion for providing truly great service. The successful candidate will possess world-class customer service skills, excellent judgement, independent decision making abilities and strong written and oral communication skills. Foremost, our Director of Service must possess the ability to inspire others to deliver great performances.
We're looking for a detail-oriented, multi-tasker, who is a team player with a collaborative style and a compelling approach to leadership.
Management experience is required. Experience in grocery or food service is strongly preferred.
We offer a robust set of benefits including subsidized health care for full-timers, free daily meals, a significant in-store discount, abundant professional development opportunities including specialized training on and off-site, and an authentically empowering workplace. We offer a profit sharing program and a peer-to-peer bonus structure. Growth potential is abundant. Unlike most restaurant jobs, which require managers to work 60+ hours weekly, our leadership team works between 45 and 50 hours/week.
