As a part of the Emerging Entrepreneurs Fellowship, participants will be able to work directly with the Sunhee’s executive team to oversee operations and learn about the food industry as well as different elements of social entrepreneurship, including staff management, branding and promotion, food sourcing and distribution, and community engagement. The fellowship consists of individualized training and a wide range of hands-on experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors of the business.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain overall storefront appearance and kitchen operations
- Stock inventory of ingredients and place orders for delivery, picking up from distributors when necessary
- Review and update online ordering and site store inventory
- Plan and execute community events and projects, including meetings, happy hours, fundraisers, guest lectures, pop-ups and other special events
- Launch creative promotional events and campaigns to expand audience
- Address kitchen operations issues such as complaints, special requests and catering and/or event inquiries
- Delegate operational projects to managerial staff and oversee progress
- Direct market and event stand operations on a weekly basis
- Recruit, orient and train new staff, providing ongoing staff support with regular meetings and appreciation events
- Teach in-house English classes Monday through Thursday 3pm to 4:30pm and coordinate with volunteers for multi-level programming
- Assist in monitoring of Adult Computer Education (ACE) program by conducting orientation, recruiting new students and coordinating tutoring sessions with volunteers
- Develop adult education and English programming materials and curricula
- Attend relevant community events and network with local business owners and stakeholders in immigrant/refugee issues
- Manage purchases, staff reimbursements and receipt reconciliation
- Handle incoming statements and invoices to ensure timely payment to vendors

- Able to work independently and balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Flexible, patient, compassionate, and interested in issues pertaining to hospitality, local food, farms and refugee resettlement
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and at various English proficiency levels
- Knowledgeable of Sunhee’s and its mission statement/business model
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum one year commitment with a 30-day probationary period
