    Job Position Description

    Purpose:

    Our Compliance Staff Member is the gatekeeper to ensuring that organization remains in compliance with government laws, regulations, organization policies, and expectations. Their duties include coordinating with organization leaders from all departments to identify potential risks, implementing policies and procedures to uphold laws and regulations and monitoring the organization’s adherence to those policies and procedures. Protect the credibility of the organization by maintaining safe and ethical business practices. identify areas of noncompliance and coordinate with Leadership and all volunteer employees to develop improvement plans.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identify and eliminate the risks of noncompliance, both externally and internally.
    • Develop internal company policies and see that they are respected.
    • Reports to executive leadership and/or direct supervisor concerning the organization’s compliance with laws, regulations, and policy’s.
    • Take action in dealing with noncompliance situations, creating realistic plans to overcome them.
    • Conduct regular audits with the audit team to identify potential weaknesses and noncompliance situations. This includes for the entire organization and in all programs.
    • Communicate with all leaders and staff and make sure everyone is aware of what they need to do to comply with internal and external laws, regulations, and organization expectations.
    • Partners with leadership on all compliance initiatives to drive the on-going success of the organization.
    • Periodically check content to include media and marketing language to ensure organization practices and policies are followed.
    • Promote open door policies for all members and staff of the organizations.
    • Handle all information to include complaints against the organization or against an officer of the organization with transparency, consistency, integrity, and fairness with the policies and expectations of the organization as your guide.
    • Partner with appropriate departments to enhance the development of the organization through compliance workshops.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be located in the United States of America, preferably in the Chicagoland area.
    • Must be in agreement with and committed to upholding R.O.Y Organization’s Motto Statement, and Statement of Values, as well as its stated Mission and Vision;
    • Must have strong, effective written and spoken communication skills along with excellent research and organizational skills;
    • Must have evidence of and a commitment to practice a high level of confidentiality;
    • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Org. Leadership and/or 1-2 years’ experience in a relevant field;
    • Must have strong office administrative and management practices and procedures;
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software and computer systems as well as advanced use of PowerPoint, spreadsheet, graphics and other business management software
    • Must be flexible and be able to work in a high change, quick paced environment.
    • Should have basic nonprofit finance and accounting, general operations, ordinances, rules, policies and procedures, or willing to learn
    • Must be a team player and be willing to receive and act on the direction, and motivated to take on responsibility to completion
    • Must be able to relate on a cross cultural level as well as display good personal and interpersonal skills in the office
    • Should be self-motivated
    • Should be available for occasional travel
    • Must make a wide variety of organizational arrangements independently or from brief instructions
    • Establish and maintain highly professional effective working relationships with senior management, and other appointed officials, including staff, community and business leaders, donors, board members, and others encountered in the course of work
    • Use a high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned groups and/or individuals
