Reckoning Trade Project is recruiting for our Founding Board of Directors! We're looking for leaders across industries who are passionate about transitioning the trades towards a safer, more inclusive work culture. Board Members will help our young organization grow and expand in our mission to widen inclusive employment opportunities for LGBTQIA+ and other nontraditional workers in the skilled trades.

Reckoning Trade Project is at the precipice of revolutionary change as we work towards economic justice for LGBTQIA+ folks most impacted by unemployment and discrimination. Only by addressing the historical and systemic misogyny, homophobia, and racism in the trades can we enact a paradigm shift towards an inclusive work culture. Our next chapter will connect LGBTQIA+ tradesworkers while providing education and training to employers, unions, and vocational programs to better protect workers from systemic oppression.

We are seeking to build a high-impact and collaborative board of directors to support and guide this growth period for our organization. Founding Board Members will have a unique opportunity to shape the narrative around the future of trade work for LGBTQ+ and other nontraditional workers. We are looking for candidates with skills in nonprofit management, fundraising, DEI, governance, and a passion for the trades and social justice.

Ideal Qualities & Skills:

  • Knowledge of governance
  • Experience with nonprofit management
  • Knowledge of finance
  • Strong analysis of systems of oppression including white supremacy, anti-blackness, transmisogyny, and power and control
  • Experience with fundraising
  • Experience with the skilled trades and unions

We are *especially* interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • Experience as a trade worker
  • Commitment to anti-oppression work
  • Willingness to learn and grow as a board member

The board will be expected to meet once a month for an hour via an online platform. There will be an additional 2-3 hours per month in the first six months to help establish governance rules, amend bylaws, and develop fundraising goals.

All time commitments for the board will be met remotely and we are open to candidates located anywhere in the US.

Ethics & Practice

Reckoning Trade Project intends to cultivate an intentionally collaborative leadership body with an emphasis on consensus building, community development, and mutual aid.

We strongly encourage QTBIPOC or others who have lived experience with multiple intersections of oppression to apply.
