ALIGHT (Alliance to Lead Impact in Global Human Trafficking) is a non-profit organization that exists to unlock a fresh start for human trafficking survivors. Founded in 2014, ALIGHT is a Colorado-based, female-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects survivors’ diverse legal needs to untapped expertise in the legal community in Colorado and beyond.
In passing Resolution 113 in February 2020, the American Bar Association recognized the need for the innovative tech-based model that ALIGHT has established in Colorado. ALIGHT has been invited to present this innovative work at the 2017 United Nations Conference on the Status of Women’s human trafficking event, the Princeton Center for Information Technology Policy, and the American Bar Association.

Volunteering as a Legal Program Associate is an opportunity for an attorney or law student who is passionate about fighting for human trafficking survivors’ rights. The Legal Program Associate focuses on growing and supporting ALIGHT’s mobilized network of attorneys. This role is central to serving the most vulnerable and bridging the gap to meet their legal needs.
The Legal Program Associate joins the program team to contribute approximately 7 hours per week to this position. Responsibilities include working remotely to conduct outreach, on-boarding and follow-up with attorneys. Strong work ethic, proactive attitude and comfort with working remotely required. JD or JD candidate seeking experience. Because this role requires significant training and supervision, preference is given for candidates who can commit to 9+ months.
Depending on the individual’s interests and skills, this position will also have opportunities to participate in other aspects of nonprofit work such as project management, community advocacy, social media communications, event planning, and marketing.
