Members will research best practices on community engagement, emphasizing reaching low-income communities on topics of recycling, water pollution, solid waste management, and public health and safety. In addition to participating on campaign creation through photography, graphic design, social media, etc., members will also work with the Communications staff and full-time VISTAs to implement new resident engagement strategies and assist with tracking impact following campaign conclusion.

The Marketing & Community Engagement VISTAs will assist our team with identifying and implementing new strategies to improve our marketing campaigns for a variety of agency programs. It is our hope that through increased engagement of residents, youth, and other groups, they can become better equipped to utilize DPW’s resources and services or make more informed decisions that can protect their homes, their communities, and the surrounding environment. Associates will work closely with office staff in addition to full-time VISTAs on a number of campaigns by collaborating through graphic design, photojournalism, and social media to increase awareness on DPW’s sustainability initiatives.
