Summary:

The Human Resources Management Volunteer or Intern Intern plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining the human component of Push, reporting the details and status of applicants, and is responsible for assisting with the development of systems for ensuring the organization’s holistic well-being. The Human Resources Management Volunteer or Intern will take the lead in communicating with the Executive Director and Board the current needs of the organization from an HR perspective.

The Human Resources Management Volunteer or Intern will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization. This individual must be a person of great trust and integrity while consistently thinking about how the organization’s culture connect with the overall mission of Push.

Our volunteer program requires a one-year commitment. However, flexibility will be granted for the right applicant who is seeking a seasonal internship and/or internship for college credit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistency with code of ethics/conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Exemplify company’s core values.
  • Aid in the establishment of processes, systems, and applications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from current and future staff members and volunteers relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to the Executive Director.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Assist with hiring and training volunteers.
  • Conduct or assist with volunteer and new hire orientation.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events such as organization-wide meetings.
  • Help develop and provide feedback on organizational HR documents such as policies and procedures, volunteer manual, employee handbook, recruiting materials, documents, and forms.
  • Create and monitor job boards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education:

Minimum:

  • Enrolled at least part-time at an accredited university.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn Human Resource Information System (HRIS), and similar computer applications. 

Note: Service as a Push volunteer is without remuneration. Given the nature of Push’s mission—its commitment to the community, stakeholders, and supporters—all volunteers are subject to a background check.
