We are looking for a creative and motivated individual to help promote Spheres of Influence online. The social media team plays a crucial role in expanding our reach and spreading awareness of our initiative. This position requires an individual who has a strong grasp of effective social media and marketing practices. This is an ideal position for a student, recent graduate, or young professional who is seeking to gain experience in the marketing sphere.

Spheres of Influence is a non-profit independent journalism platform that works to explain complex issues in global affairs in an accessible and engaging way. Through our articles, we especially seek to highlight underreported issues and unpack the deeper historical, political, and economic contexts of major news events. Our team is entirely volunteer-based and comprises 50 individuals from across the globe. 

We realize that social media is an incredibly powerful marketing and educational tool. Our social media platforms are essential for generating greater awareness of our site and attracting more readers. We also seek to expand our social media presence as an educational platform and raise awareness of global challenges and crises through infographics, videos, and campaigns.

Position Requirements & Duties:

  • Design and create engaging social media posts using Canva
  • Publish materials directly to our Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts
  • Research and implement new ways to help us promote our website and reach larger audiences
  • Write the content for educational infographics
  • Create and edit short videos
  • This role is fully volunteer and remote and requires 5 hours per week.

The Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a social media role is encouraged but not required
  • Passionate about global affairs, social justice, and politics
  • Graphic design skills (Canva preferred)
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • A positive attitude and an eagerness to learn
  • Highly creative and innovative with a keen eye for detail
