The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute (LDBPI) is a center of healing, teaching and learning for families and communities dealing with murder, trauma, grief and loss. Our commitment is to transform society’s response to homicide so all families are treated with dignity and compassion. Our programs and services are grounded in the Center for Disease Control’s social-ecological framework that interventions are needed at multiple levels in order to interrupt cycles of violence.

Description of Project/Purpose of Assignment:

The Annual Mother's Day Walk for Peace is our largest fundraiser, which celebrates and uplifts our seven Principles of Peace. This project will bring new creative ideas to the event which is celebrating a major milestone in 2021. The Social Media Marketing Campaign Volunteer will develop and implement a social media campaign for the 25th Annual Mother's Day Walk for Peace. They will be responsible for developing creative content with support from the walk planning team for social media and email.

Reports to: Shaulita Francis, Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develop creative content that is reflective of our campaign’s goal 
  • Manage social media platforms and schedule 
  • Manage email schedule 

Time Commitment: Approximately 5 hours/wk end of January through May 31, 2021

Start Date: January 25, 2021

Location: This role is remote.

Qualifications Required: Experience in developing and implementing creative digital marketing campaigns

Benefits: The volunteer will have the opportunity to create a digital marketing campaign that will reach over 10,000 walkers from Boston and beyond and will have a financial impact on the LDBPI of over $600,000. 

Volunteer will have an opportunity to attend events hosted by the organization (e.g. fundraising events-community meetings)

Volunteer will have an opportunity to attend department, all-staff and/or other internal meetings.

Volunteer will have an opportunity to participate in meetings with Mother’s Day Walk for Peace Planning and Production Team.
