Literacy Volunteers of Methuen provides free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring to adults who wish to gain basic literacy skills or learn English. Tutors are trained and provided with ongoing support and resources from the Nevins Memorial Library.
Attending a 1-hour orientation session and a 12-hour, 3-week training program is mandatory. After completion of training, tutors will be matched with a student with whom they will work for at least 9 to 12 months for 2 hours every week.
Tutors make a real difference in their students' lives–many students go on to earn professional credentials, U.S. citizenship, and academic achievements.
