Social Media and Website Volunteer

Save The Snakes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated exclusively to snake conservation and mitigating human-snake conflict. Our mission is to protect threatened snake populations around the world through habitat preservation, education and community outreach to create a harmonious relationship between humans and snakes.

Save The Snakes seeks an enthusiastic, social media savvy individual to assist in our snake awareness outreach and education campaigns. This is an unpaid, volunteer position and you will work directly with the Executive Director. Volunteer social media coordinators can be based anywhere in the world and must be willing to connect via Zoom from time to time. The position is a minimum of two hours per week commitment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research content for, write, and schedule social media posts and website articles
• Engage with supporters, answer questions and monitor posts on all channels
• Ensure Save The Snakes' message is distributed across channels and to targeted audiences
• Seek out new ways to deliver messaging, such as web platforms, video and social media
• Other communications tasks as required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Passion for wildlife conservation
• Interest in snakes, herpetology or humanitarian issues
• Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn design software such as InDesign and Photoshop
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Knowledge of WordPress, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is essential
• Comfortable working as part of a team, while also being flexible and self-motivated to work independently
