    MENTORING - Minds Matter DC Mentor

    We are looking for mentors for the 2024-25 school year!

    We need volunteers who are energetic, committed and successful individuals, who can dedicate their time and compassion to help local students achieve their academic pursuits.

    Our program is dedicated to transforming the lives of motivated high school students from low-resource families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success--and it wouldn't be possible without our volunteers.

    MENTORS

    Our volunteers build relationships with local DC high school students by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success . Each student is paired with two mentors with whom they meet every Saturday from noon to 2pm and together will work on essays, summer prep program selection, and school selection.

    Our mentors act as catalysts for the mentees, providing them with individual support and guidance, allowing each student to fulfill his or her potential and make the leap to college.

    Mentor Expectations:

    • A college graduate
    • Minimum age 21 and must pass background check
    • Act as a positive influence and a role model for students
    • Attend 75% of the sessions from September through May
    • Time commitment: 3-4hrs/week

    More than 1,300 volunteers nationwide dedicate their time help to Minds Matter achieve its mission each year. Minds Matter of Washington, DC is a 100% volunteer based organization. Our organization consists of professionals from diverse career backgrounds in the DMV area. The Minds Matter volunteer experience offers dedicated individuals both the opportunity to meet a group of like-minded adults as well as the opportunity to hold leadership posts and carry the organization to new levels each year.
