Position Title: Grant Writer

Location: Remote

 

Purpose: helpNYC seeks applicants for the position of Volunteer Grant Writer. The Grant Writer will support helpNYC in their mission to help those in need throughout the five boroughs.The Grant Writer will write coherent, organized and compelling proposals. The successful applicant will apply their knowledge of fundraising methods and plans to reach income goals. To ensure success it is necessary to write well, have proficient knowledge of fundraising methods and be committed to helpNYC’s mission. 

helpNYC is a peer driven community initiative that educates, advocates for, and provides direct services to people who are in need. We promote Human Rights, Social Justice, and social and economic opportunities. Our belief that people are the experts in their own lives is the essence of our work. 

The successful candidate filling the role of Grant Researcher will be passionate about advocacy and believe in supporting the dignity of individuals.

 

What you will be doing

  • Developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Displaying adherence to helpNYC’s mission
  • Maintaining proficient knowledge of helpNYC’s history and programs.
  • Assisting with the execution of development strategy
  • Identifying grant funding opportunities
  • Writing, submitting and managing grant proposals
  • Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents
  • Collaborating with the Development Team to send funders newsletters and to promote dissemination of information about helpNYC
  • Collaborating with the Development Team to compile annual report
  • Advance working knowledge of Google Workspace, Zoom, Mailchimp, and other web based productivity applications.
  • Experience with Candid services such as Foundation Directory Online.

 

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in creative writing or related field
  • 2+ years grant writing experience
  • Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals
  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel
  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong people skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Time Commitment:
  • 10 hours per week minimum
  • The successful candidate can choose to work one day M-F for 10 hours or two days M-F for 5 hours each

 

Support

  • Training for this position will be provided
  • This position will be part of a collaborative effort on the Development Team
