Food and Nutrition Specialist

Summer 2023-Summer 2024, full-time

Please note: this is an AmeriCorps position; somewhere in-between a job and a volunteer opportunity, but not fully either. VISTA members are paid a living allowance of $17,600 and can receive either an education award (to be used on tuition or qualitied loans) of $6,495 OR an end of service stipend of $1500.

The VISTA will work closely with program staff, particularly those connected to food and nutrition programs, to develop, implement, and support new program initiatives focused on children and/or food insecurity.  Some new initiatives that may be part of the experience will include a new mobile food pantry and bringing that to scale, a weekend backpack program for youth via the Food Bank at Delaware Opportunities, Farm to Head Start planning, mass food distribution volunteer recruitment and management, and any other related food and nutrition initiative to support low-income families in Delaware County.

A college education is preferred but not required. Candidates must also satisfy the National Criminal History Check.
