    Description

    House Museum Tour Guide

Be a tour guide in our historical musume house:

Built in 1891, The Barnacle is the oldest house in Miami-Dade County still standing in its original location. This was the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove's most charming settlers, as well as a founder and the first Commodore of the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club.

An interesting fact about The Barnacle is that the second floor is older than the first. Munroe lifted his original one-story bungalow in 1908 and constructed a new first floor below.

The house is open for guided tours Friday through Wednesday and is closed on Thursdays. There are 4 half-hour tour blocks starting at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. We have a wonderful library of training and reading materials to get you ready for your first tour. So come and sign up today to share your love of history and architecture with visitors from all walks of life.
