Role Overview 

In this role, The SharePoint Developer will work as a team member to design, develop, deploy, and support custom built and third-party applications for Microsoft Office SharePoint (MOSS) 2007, 2010, 2013 and Office365 SharePoint Online environments. Customize out of the box SharePoint sites to suit business needs. Participate in the architectural design, development, customization, and integration efforts involving Collaboration, Portals, Enterprise Search, Enterprise Content Management, Business Process and Forms. Handle support incidents escalated through helpdesk, monitor and improve server performance, plan and carry out server maintenance such as patching and upgrade. 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Design, enhance, implement and maintain SharePoint sites and applications ensuring access, reliability, availability and usability to current and new users 
  • Responsible for understanding the current process, gathering requirements, investigating potential solutions, analyzing impact, communicating with stakeholders, and implementing solutions. 
  • Create custom workflows, post functions, and validators, make changes to workflows, screens, fields, and reporting, and provide ongoing support and configuration maintenance.  
  • Identify new areas and business processes where O365/SharePoint can be leveraged and facilitate continual process improvement. 
  • Author and maintain technical documentation and user-guides. 
  • Standardize and optimize the way data is stored and retrieved. 
  • Plan and execute tasks related to the evaluation of new O365/SharePoint Online based initiatives (upgrades, third-party solutions, and integration with enterprise systems). 
  • Develop new SharePoint sites/sub-sites, applications and enhancements 
  • Customize sites, including setting up security, designing site structure and maintaining content types 
  • Build custom forms using InfoPath, including integration with back-end databases 
  • Ability to create reports, dashboards, and scorecards using Microsoft Excel, SQL Report Builder, Power BI, or similar technologies 
  • Work with end users on portal development, including graphics, branding, layout, and navigations

Qualifications 

Basic 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study. 
  • Deep Office 365 expertise and real-world experience with a broad range of understanding of SharePoint design architecture, security, employee productivity, and user support. 
  • Experience working with two or more from the following: web application development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, developing large software systems, and/or security software development. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Experience working remotely as part of a small team. 

 

Preferred 

  • Master’s degree  
  • Experience working in a start-up company, non-profit or entrepreneurial environment.
