    Description

Time is our most precious gift...

Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills needed - just a listening ear and an open heart; it will be some of the most rewarding time you'll ever spend.

Elara Caring, a leading home health and hospice agency, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide a comforting end-of-life presence to local hospice patients and their families in Essex and Northern Middlesex Counties. Our patients live in homes, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

As hospice patients approach their end-of-life, extra support is needed for both the patient and their family. We are looking for special volunteers to visit patients at the bedside and offer vigil and support. You could hold a hand, play their favorite music, recite poetry, read out loud or provide quiet companionship. Your presence will provide support for the family at bedside and allow them to take a respite break from their long vigils. For patients without available family to sit with them, your presence is invaluable.

Hours are flexible - weekdays, evenings, weekends and on an on-call basis. Orientation and training provided; no physical care to patient required.

Covid-19 restrictions upheld per CDC Guidelines and facility requirements.
