    Description

    Volunteer Recruiting Team Member

The Volunteer Interview and Placement Team interviews applicants (via Zoom) for positions within Wells Bring Hope (WBH). Since WBH is an all-volunteer organization, this is one of the most critical teams for our organization. We have scripts for interviewing and the team works closely together.

The person in this position would also interview nominees and track them in our placement system. This person would possibly also assist in coordinating our volunteer newsletter published every other month.

    Required Skills:

    • Excellent oral and written communication (in English)
    • Reliable and responsible at responding to e-mails and keeping tracking system up to date regarding assigned nominees in a timely manner. This is critical.
    • Good judgment regarding people
    • Good interview skills
    • Good organizational skills
    • Good basic computer skills (Gmail, Word, Excel, Dropbox, Google Drive and ideally, Canva)
    • Available for about 5-7 hours/month on average
    • Small amount of data entry (of information about your assigned volunteer nominee)

Responsibilities of Volunteer Management Team Member:

    • Learn about the goals, needs and development model of Wells Bring Hope
    • Create bi-monthly volunteer newsletter. This consists of collecting info for the two page newsletter from the organization President and the Volunteer Interview Team and put into a template to send to our administrative person to finalize and email to our volunteers. Two volunteers on our team work on this task together and serve as backup for each other.
    • Review resumes and writing samples of assigned nominee candidates, interview candidates for volunteer positions, and match skills with current needs of our organization
    • Address any questions potential volunteers might have
    • Establish ongoing relationship with team managers for whom you are recruiting team members
    • Enter candidates into our online database and file relevant documents in Dropbox (or Google Drive)
    • Attend virtual team meetings (usually 2 x/month for 30 minutes on Sunday mornings). Ideally, this person should be located in North America. We do have team members in Africa and China, but scheduling meetings and interviews is much more inconvenient for them due to the different time zones.
    • Help update our onboarding workflows as appropriate
    • Share ideas with the team about new ways to reach out to potential and existing volunteers
    • Assist with active volunteer communications
    • Create monthly volunteer newsletter (two of our team collect info for the two page newsletter and put into a template to send to our administrative person to finalize and email to our volunteers.

    Who are we?

Wells Bring Hope drills wells to bring safe water to rural villages in Niger, West Africa, the poorest country in the world. We are committed to saving lives with safe water and providing sustainable solutions to transform lives for generations to come. The burden of finding water falls upon women and girls who walk miles every day to find water. It means that girls are unable to attend school and women have no time to work and earn money for their families.

We are an all-volunteer organization, with just one paid employee, and so we place a very high value on those who want to work with us. The work of our volunteers is more than just "a drop in the bucket." It is the lifeblood of our organization. Volunteers bring their passion and dedication to our team and for that, we are a very fortunate.
