Volunteers to be Social Justice Documentarian

Seeking volunteers to find and capture stories (videos, podcast, photos) of Mountain View parents and children's experience with schooling in COVID-19.

Emphasis will be in trying amplify the stories of families less often told because of linguistic or socio-economic reasons.

The volunteers will not be working to advocate for any one candidate. Our campaign will promote these stories, but the goal is to get these stories to all the candidates, board members, and administrators to inform policymaking.

Stories should capture that person's truth, with no bias, capturing both the successes and challenges they may face. Your job would NOT be to convince them to vote for any particular candidate.

This work can be done completely remotely. Plans to do in-person story gathering will need to be carefully planned with both persona safety and COVID-19 safety in mind.

This is perfect role if you have a passion for journalism, filmmaking, podcast making, photography, social justice, and community building. No experience needed, training and equipment can be provided. You do not need to live in Mountain View, though the stories will be of those living in Mountain View.

Example of a story:

This campaign prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity (including gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, and age. Anyone interested should apply!

There is no pay for this volunteer work. Volunteers will retain ownership rights to their own stories include rights to use their stories for their own future projects. The campaign will retain the right to use and make minor edits to the video to match the media platform used to distribute them. Each volunteer will receive a letter of reference at the end, describing the work they did.
