eCYBERMISSION CyberGuides: Virtual Mentors

eCYBERMISSION is recruiting volunteers to virtually mentor middle school student teams as CyberGuides as the students complete STEM projects for a National STEM Competition.

eCYBERMISSION, an Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) project, is an annual web-based STEM competition for 6th to 9th grade students that promotes teamwork, self-discovery, and the real-life applications of STEM. Teams of 3 to 4 students, with the help of a Team Advisor, create projects that identify and solve problems in their community while competing for State, Regional, and National Awards.

CyberGuides are STEM professionals, students (18+), or someone with a background in STEM. This role is ideal for STEM professionals and students, including military personnel, interested in providing mentorship to students during the eCYBERMISSION competition.

CyberGuides answer student questions, provide support, and engage with teams virtually. They inspire students to challenge themselves and explore STEM by sharing their expertise with students during the months leading up to Regional Judging.

CyberGuides mentor teams through the completion of their Mission Folder (project submission) by encouraging them to ask questions, delve deeper into their research, pursue challenging concepts, employ problem-solving skills, and to maintain integrity throughout the competition using our virtual Live Chat sessions and on our virtual mentoring platform Chronus.

Mission:
  • Promote STEM education to students participating in the eCYBERMISSION competition
  •  Contribute to the student’s engagement with STEM by sharing personal expertise and advice
  • Support student teams through mentorship, using Chronus as a virtual platform
  • Support student teams through participating and hosting Live Chat sessions
  • Provide students with assistance and feedback on their projects and Mission Folders virtually
Commitment
  • After completing the required background check, this is a flexible opportunity, typically 1–2 hours a week during the day and/or evening.
  • This role is active between September and March of the competition cycle.

Accept the challenge, visit www.ecybermission.com/register and join the mission to promote STEM education and help support the over 18,000 middle school students across the nation competing in the competition.

Registration deadline is March 3, 2021.
