Job Description

NCBA CLUSA is currently seeking 2 (1- remote US volunteer and 1- volunteer based in Peru) qualified Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer candidates for the position of Strategic Planner to support Cacao de Aroma based in Tocache, Peru.

Cacao de Aroma is a second-tier cooperative founded in 2014 sponsored by German cooperation project PRODATU II. Six cooperatives are members of Cacao de Aroma: Asociación de Productores Nueva Vision, Cooperativa Agroindustrial Uchiza CAU Ltda, Cooperativa Agroindustrial Cordillera Azul de Nuevo Progreso Ltda COOPACANP, Cooperativa Agroindustrial Paraíso Ltda. COOPA, Cooperativa Agroindustrial CP Cacao y la Cooperativa Agraria del Valle del Mishollo Ltda. Their combined efforts produced 1,100 tons of cacao beans in 2020.

Cacao de Aroma is an exemplary cooperative in Tocache and other cooperatives look up to them. Most of their success is the result of implementing their plans and reaching objectives. Nevertheless, within the last two years there has not been an increase in their production nor increase in their exports. They believe COVID has changed the cacao market and they need to adjust their plans accordingly. Their strategic plan was drafted in 2018 to be used until 2022 hence they are working with strategies and objectives based on past scenarios.
