Project HEAL Content Creator - Volunteer

Reports to: Project HEAL Development & Marketing Manager

Status: Volunteer 

Location: Remote

Expected Hours: 5-10 hours a week (must include at least 1 regularly scheduled work block availability during standard working hours; potential for additional hours to be completed outside of standard working hours)

About the Role

Project HEAL is seeking a Volunteer Content Creator to join our organization and support our development/marketing, administration, and program staff. The Content Creator will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and publishing content in line with Project HEAL’s brand. The Content Creator will work closely with Project HEAL’s Development & Marketing Director and CEO to update and create relevant documents, presentations, one-pagers, and reports for internal and external use, as well as social media graphics and content.

 Responsibilities

  • Taking a concept and translating it into a visual piece of content aligned with Project HEAL’s brand guide and representative of Project HEAL’s mission and values
  • Create timely social media graphics sized for the appropriate channel, minding readability and platform best practices
  • Designing all print and digital content for the organization, including items like social media graphics, annual reports, one-pagers, powerpoint presentations, flyers, fundraising appeals, thank you cards, etc. as projects arise
  • Closely monitor the content calendar to create graphics and layouts as content is drafted
  • Coordinate with Volunteer Social Media Manager for feedback, questions, or check-ins regarding your designs and their content
  • Weekly check-in with Development & Marketing Manager and Volunteer Social Media Manager to preview social content calendar and schedules
  • Bi-weekly 1-1 check-in with Development & Marketing Manager Director to review previous content, give and receive feedback, and strategize on brand visualization going forward.

General Expectations:

  • Previous experience with Canva for graphic design, especially designing for print and digital documents
  • Previous experience with social media content creation and management
  • Understanding and using Project HEAL’s Brand Guide for all content to ensure continuity
  • Methodical and strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Project management skills
  • Proficiency in Canva, GSuite, Word, Excel 

Key Qualifications:

As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of Project HEAL and be driven by the mission.  

While there are no minimum educational requirements for this position, the successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of designing and publishing compelling content that tells a story and increases the audience’s understanding of and commitment to a cause.

The ideal candidate for this role should also have demonstrated writing and graphic design skills that can be submitted as a portfolio attachment.
