Surfrider Foundation Vancouver is seeking a highly organized and proactive Chair volunteer to join its executive committee team.

If  you  are  passionate  about  protecting  Vancouver’s  coastlines,  we  want  to  hear  from  you!  We   are the Vancouver Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a global environmental non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves and beaches, for all people, which is enacted through a powerful activist network.

The Chair is responsible for leading the chapter. You will play a key role in developing our chapter’s strategic plans and directing the chapter towards our long term goals. We are looking for a passionate and proactive leader who enjoys working with people.

Executive Committee:

Provides overall chapter management and promotes SF values and visions. The Committee is responsible for managing chapter teams; ensuring common SF and specific chapter values and visions are understood and supported by chapter leads; creating enjoyable working environment; keeping funds and property in order.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the chapter 
  • Working with Surfrider HQ and Surfrider Canadian chapters
  • Fostering relationships with other like-minded organizations
  • Overseeing chapter’s strategic planning and long-term goals
  • Supervising work of Executive Committee, Development Team and Events Team
  • Working on integration with other Surfrider Canadian chapters
  • Leading relationship building with other organisations and local authorities
  • Developing Executive Committee members’ tasks and deadlines (together with the Vice Chair)
  • Managing chapter’s long term strategy plan
  • Managing chapter’s yearly strategy plan
  • Overseeing Executive Committee task list
  • Attending chapter executive meetings (one per month)
  • Attending chapter events (one per month)
  • Attending Surfrider conferences
