Member Duties: The AmeriCorps member will develop and implement a

gardening and nutrition education program at UGArden to train teachers, and

teach P-12 students in the Athens area by recruiting and training volunteers to

both develop a demonstration garden and conduct education-based tours at

UGArden. The AmeriCorps member will support local school garden programs by

coordinating the providing of materials and resources necessary to construct

and plant edible school gardens. As one of 2 AmeriCorps members on site, the VISTA

will grow and strengthen partnerships with Campus Kitchen, the UGArden, Athens

areas schools, and the Senior Hunger Coalition. They will collaborate with

AmeriCorps member at these sites, and also support outreach efforts to increase

distribution, purchase and consumption of fresh produce to families in need.
