The Kimberly Coffey Foundation (KCF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, works to educate the public and healthcare professionals about bacterial meningitis (meningococcal disease). KCF was founded in memory of Kimberly Coffey, who passed away from Meningitis B in 2012 at the age of 17. To continue to support and grow our advocacy and educational activities at the Foundation, we are currently seeking a Board Member.

KCF seeks applicants from diverse backgrounds, and with varied skill sets, perspectives and voices to help execute on its strategic vision and contribute their expertise to grow our capacity and impact.

The ideal individual will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Fundraising Strategy

KCF is committed to diversifying its revenue streams. We are seeking a board member who has expertise in and a successful track record in securing grant funding or fundraising for program development, and can help us select funders and communicate our vision to them.

Community Development

Experience building programs or teams that empower community members to act. If you’ve designed and led volunteer programs that are anchored within the community, or helped existing programs successfully expand their capacity, we’d like to hear from you. 

Advocacy

Experience advocating for health and/or other causes and implementing innovative approaches towards achieving goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly and as needed board meetings.
  • Work with Executive Director to create and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy.
  • Build and grow fundraising initiatives.
  • Active involvement in communications, public relations, and advocacy initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • A commitment to, and a clear understanding of the mission of the Foundation.
  • Successful experience working with a non-profit foundation and/or advocacy organization.
  • Substantial experience with fundraising, communications, advocacy or community engagement, preferably with nonprofits.
