Our promise is to educate, coach, and advocate for girls and women with an aptitude, talent, and passion for STEM. Through engagement of top STEM companies, universities, teachers and hands on curriculum our girls discover the endless opportunities available to them in STEM. Project Scientist Scholars is a virtual STEM mentoring and leadership development program designed to engage and empower those who have interest in a STEM focused education and career. Participants, ages 13-15, will work with guest STEM professionals from leading organizations and companies on various projects to develop STEM interests and important skills. 

Scholars’ fellows are volunteers who will work closely with the Scholars program manager and other fellows to execute Project Scientist’s vision and advance the mission. Fellows will be responsible for assisting in the facilitation of bi-monthly virtual meetings of participants ages 13-15. They will also be responsible for helping in the facilitation of smaller break out room meetings. 

A Scholars’ fellow must have excellent communication skills and have experience with virtual platforms and other basic technology. Fellows must feel comfortable observing groups of up to 5 minors and ensuring appropriate relationships are maintained between participants and any guest mentors. Finally, fellows should be passionate about STEM education and increasing diversity in STEM fields. As this is a volunteer position, fellow will not receive monetary compensation but have the opportunity to gain other rewards.

We’re looking for individuals with the skills to: 

  • Facilitate break out rooms of no more than 5 girls ages 13-15 with pre-provided curriculum or projects
  • Facilitate discussion on monthly topics in breakout rooms and whole group meetings
  • Ensure appropriate relationships and discussion between participants and guest mentors/speakers
  • Create safe and inspiring environment for participants and other fellows


Position Qualifications:

  • College student or recent college graduate
  • Experience working with middle school students is preferred but not required
  • Passion about STEM and inspiring the next generation of women in STEM
  • Experience using online virtual platforms like Zoom or Cisco WebX
  • Team player 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms and general technology
  • Pass of background check
