Seeking Volunteer Participants in our Social Groups

We are looking for volunteers to join our weekly and biweekly social groups.  We need a variety of folks, neurodivergent and "neurotypical," to join our weekly and biweekly social groups, and help us make our activities and conversations fun, interesting, welcoming, and relevant to a variety of neurotypes and personalities.  You’ll have fun,  you’ll meet really cool people, will also learn a lot about autism and neurodiversity in all its beauty and complexity, and you’ll be part of building a more inclusive, more interesting, more neurodiverse world.

Who are we?

DC Peers is a nonprofit dedicated to creating more inclusive and neurodiverse social opportunities in our community. Our programs bring autistic and neurotypical peers together in different groups -- in our neurodiversity groups, we discuss and strategize about the complexities of the social world, and about the misunderstandings created by neurological differences.  In our social strategies workshops, we coach each other and give feedback on our interpersonal skills. In our social groups, we hang out and play games, do trivia, foster conversation, and get to know each other.

What are we looking for?

DC Peers is doing something unique in this area, and it’s a great opportunity for those who are professionally and/or personally interested and invested in deepening our community’s understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of our autistic and neurodivergent peers. We are looking for volunteers so that we can provide as many free and low-cost neurodiverse social programs for middle-schoolers, high-schoolers, and adults as possible.

We need a variety of folks, neurodivergent and "neurotypical," who want to connect with neurodiverse teens and adults, who understand the need for the social world to be more inclusive and open-minded, and who can commit 2 hours per week or biweekly (depending on the group) for a few months at a time.
