    Description

Help VIN and their partner organisations make a difference to the lives of children on Kathmandu’s streets. These children, victims of poverty, neglect and abuse, have nowhere to turn. VIN needs volunteers or interns to work for street childrenon the street, at drop-in centres and to perform research in pursuit of solutions.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world. Poverty is a national concern and a daily reality. A 2001 study estimated that around 1200 children lived on the streets of Kathmandu; more than 10 years on, the numbers will be much greater. Some children were born on the streets to rick-shaw pullers and rag-pickers. Others, thrown from their homes, the victims of physical and mental abuse simply arrive there, with nowhere else to go.
