POSITION: Summer Community & Development Engagement Coordinator (Americorps VISTA)


DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a qualified Summer Community & Development Engagement Coordinator from June 13 to August 14. The coordinator will be responsible for a variety of community tennis programming as well as help oversee development of our New England Tennis & Education Foundation. The opportunity is best suited for someone who is interested in learning more about non-profit management and is also passionate about tennis. This is a paid volunteer position supported by Americorps. Before applying please review the federal Americorps program here


COMMUNITY TENNIS RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with our Tennis In the Parks program - manage specific player data, procurement & inventory - mailing/delivery of program equipment and t-shirts and program support as needed
  • Assist D&I Manager as needed with updating demographic data and program information
  • Attend and assist with all League championship matches


DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend all board meetings and grant meetings
  • Assist with donor database
  • Assist in planning events 
  • Maintain department files, assist with mailings, filings, and special projects


SUPERVISORS: Manager, Diversity & Inclusion, Manager, Tennis in the Parks, Director, USTA League


TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 40 hours per week, including evenings/weekends for events.  


BENEFITS: A living stipend of $2440 plus travel reimbursement (mileage) will be offered. The candidate will also be able to select between an education award of $1300 or $300 once they have completed their service term. A laptop will also be provided for the duration of service.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Initiative and enthusiasm
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Ability to think independently and problem solve
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Knowledge of tennis or experience playing is a preferred but not required
  • College Degree preferred but not required
